Better Set Your Phasers to Stun is a 5 track CD EP from hyperbubble. The title track is a Ramones-inspired jolt of beachpop, with guest vocals by welsh bubblegum punk queen herself Helen Love, who also sang on Joey Ramone's solo album, 'Don't Worry About Me'. The song features a Moog lazer battle, go-go dancing robots, and layers of pulsing power pop riffs. Fans of the Undertones, the Rezillos, the Beach Boys, the Archies, and yes, Frankie Avalon and Annete Funicello, have a reason to celebrate! The aliens are here to party. Surf's up. CD is housed in a digipack on Glasgow's new indie pop label, Bubblegum Records. 'Techno-bubblegum pop for robots and the kids who love them! It's like The Cars crashing into The Faint and taking them back in time to give them happy pills.' -Marcel Feldmar BIG TAKEOVER 'Peppy synth pop par excellence. Jess's delivery is the kind of witty ice-cool warmth that could almost be a solo cyborg Shangri-Las.' - Ned Raggett ALL MUSIC GUIDE 'Hyperbubble went ahead and proved that the breakneck pace of punk could be applied to straight-up synthpop. A fantastic fun listen.' - Mike Schiller POP MATTERS Hyperbubble are a duo consisting of Mr & Mrs DeCuir once of Pink Filth. They have been around for a couple of years now although Phasers On Stun (trekkies?) is the first chance I have had to hear them. They make pure synth pop and my first thought when I heard the lyrics is how similar it was to Helen Love only for the aforementioned to chip in with some vocals half way through. 'There are two further remixes but the opening single mix is the one that gets the thumbs up from me. As it's a maxi single, it comes with two further tracks. Beach Party UFO is vinatge 1980's synth pop whilst Disgow Glasgow moves the sound on a decade being of a rave/indie dance persuasion. It's retro fun and bouncy throwaway pop music to the boot.' - Tom Bartlett INDIEMP3 'Hyperbubble was the only real music I stood still and watched an entire set from. Not for lack of interesting options, but more in awe of the reaction of the crowd to their music. I heard more than several proclamations of "WHAT IS THIS?" and "THIS is the best band EVER!!" loudly from behind. I couldn't have been happier.' - Justin Parr EMVERGEONING.
